--Newt Gingrich making up "facts" to support his assertion that Don't Ask/Don't Tell should be reinstated.  Most of the candidates at last night's Republican Presidential Debate in New Hampshire supported reinstatement of DA/DT after host John King asked them about it directly.

"Rights don’t come in groups. We shouldn’t have gay rights. Rights come as individuals. If we would (ph) have this major debate going on, it would be behavior that would count, not the person who belongs to which group."

--Congressman Ron Paul stating that he would not work to over throw DA/DT repeal, though he didn't specify what "behavior" he was talking about.

I believe that “don’t ask/don’t tell” should have been kept in place until conflict was over.

Gingrich Campaign Defects

Much of Newt Gingrinch's senior campaign staff abruptly resigned yesterday.  The rats leaving the sinking SS Newty-Newt include spokesman Rick Tyler, campaign manager Bob Johnson, senior strategists and aids in South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire.  Gingrich couldn't be reached for comment because he and Calista were off on a cruise to the Greek Islands.  Seriously.  It may seem strange for a presidential candidate to abruptly go on a luxury vacation in the midst of a campaign, but those Aegean sunsets set off Tiffany's diamonds so beautifully.

In 2007, the latest Mrs. Newt Gingrich reported that her husband owed $500,000 to Tiffany's.  Considering Newt's track record, I'd say Calista's a smart girl.
